The older jx75 and jx85 mowers were actually built by John Deere. They have a similar mower that's silver in color. I think they are called sb14 if I remember correctly. These are the mowers that people seem to like. I mow fir a living and the jx75 is the best mower I've ever dealt with. I have a honda for a backup but if I find another good jx75 the honda is going to be sold.

I just replaced the carb and wax choke and I'm giving serious thought to changing those bolts out for studs. Honda really turned a minor job into an annoying fiddly chore with that setup.

I spent the first half of the video wondering if he was addressing the blowing oil issue or just first addressing the owner's DIY repair. Second half just left me confused as to why the muffler issue had anything to do with the blowing oil problem; just overheating? Found this from YT search because I have an old Kohler M18 in a Cub Cadet 1811 that quickly blows massive amounts of oil (& gas?) out the top of the carburetor. Help diagnosing appreciated.

Bro I did this project earlier this afternoon. You are going to have clearance issues with this carburetor, I had to modify the intake block. And it's not just the throttle arm it's the other side of it too on top will block the range of motion you have to take the two corners off that block with a grinder a file requires a ton of energy just get out your angle grinder . At first I just seemed to clearance issue on the side that the throttle cable attaches and by the time I got that where okay I believe I have the range of motion I started the engine and I was running it and it's like wait I'm not hitting my pink idle because the upper right corner of that block is stopping the lever from moving on the other side of the carburetor. But still with the stock throttle cable you have to balance the adjustment down so that the carburetor will come all the way down to the low idle. This aftermarket carburetor requires quite a bit of extra work on this model blower. But I can say after 2 hours of cussing the carburetor and blower in my driveway this afternoon, I got the blower dialed in pretty good starts runs great but I was not expecting to have to adjust so many different features of the blower for a replacement carburetor. And there's something Goofy with this carburetor in between the high and low like they bleed over to each other

So my HRX217 only runs in choke/fast mode area. Like if you put it in the fast zone, it will slowly die or just die. She has a very tiny sweet spot like just-in the choke zone. And if you pull back that far right lever, it definitely dies waaaay before reaching the slow zone/off zone. It also seems like its NOT running at full throttle when I mow and it leaves several random glass blades. If i mow lawn 2x in 2 different directions, im lucky if i got some more cut off. Keep in mind, blade is/has been sharpened and yes, I've try to sliw doen my walk pace (right side level) also to no avail. Your thoughts?. Use to cut like a dream 2 seasons ago. This season, gets worse n worse and that zone is very tiny where its throttling ok then seems to drop rpms a tad. 😢

Same problem here. Cleaned carb several times. Pain in the ass to take apart. Best to buy new carb if gummed up. Watch for rust inside tank as well. Use compressed air to clean out fuel line. Crack it up every few months and use fuel additive for storage. Moving to nat gas gen.

I did not see you put oil in that dry crankcase.

easy to drain gas. buy a marine tank hose w/o the fittings. it has a priming bulb and you can drain the gas as long as the empty container is below the level of the gas tank.
